The Italian word for trousers comes from ‘Pantalone’, a literary archetype of the bourgeois comedy of seventeenth-century Italian art. Trousers are clothing which are suitable to life and usually are ankles-length covering each leg separately (unlike the skirt). The fabric of trousers is composed of different materials (cotton, denim, polyester, velvet, etc.). Trousers can be long, ankles-length or lower, or calf-length (pirate), knee-length (bermuda) or mini-shorts. When the length reaches mid-calf they are called Capri trousers. This article of clothing is worn by women and men, they usually have accessories, pockets, zip and brachetes for men, in order to wear more easily those less flexible materials.
